See all the cool things you can do this summer!

Food Systems

Students from participating schools will spend two 2-hour sessions delving into food systems with one of our Farm School educators. In this time, they will explore the nature and complexity of the current dominant U.S. food system (as a major part of the global food system). Students will explore aspects of the food system (production, transportation, processing, distribution, waste).

Learners will demonstrate: 1. Understanding of the complexity of the current dominant U.S. food system, including the various steps from farm to plate 2. Explore the implications of this food system model 3. Envision possible alternative that might be more just and/or sustainable. Farm School Educators will evaluate student engagement with these concepts through discussion-based inquiry, exploration, and reflection.
