Community Food Security

Students from participating schools will spend a 2-hour sessions delving into food security with one of our Farm School educators. In this time, they will explore various factors effecting food security for community members, including logistical, financial, and bureaucratic challenges.

Learners will demonstrate: 1. Active engagement in the activity with the resources and challenges of the community member they are assigned 2. Understanding of some of the day-to-day challenges some community members face when trying to access food for their families 3. Ways they found to work with the resources and limitations they were given to meet their "goals" Farm School Educators will evaluate student engagement with these concepts through their active participation in the activity. In addition, following the activity, they will have an extended debrief that will allow for exploration of related topics, reflections on how they responded in the activity, and connections to everyday realities.
